Transduction of virulence within the species Salmonella typhimurium.

چکیده
Four strains of Salmonella typhimurium avirulent for mice were found to be capable of acting as gene acceptors in transduction experiments. An attempt was made to transduce virulence to three strains, using a typical mouse-virulent strain of S. typhimurium as donor. Two of the strains which are adenine-dependent were successfully made virulent by transduction and simultaneously became adenineindependent. The other strain M 206, whilst possessing the typical antigenic structure of S. typhimurium and being non-exacting nutritionally, was not made virulent by transduction.

Isolation and Detection of Virulence factors of Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella enteritidis
Plasmids play an important role in the virulence and antibiotic resistance of Salmonella. Salmonella carry plasmids having different size and number. Plasmid profile analysis of single isolates of Salmonella typhimurium and Salmonella enteritidis revealed the presence of 4- plasmid profiles. Salmonella serovars produce several Type III secretions including Sop-E and Sop –B. Soap E is detected b...

Typhoid disease or salmonellosis is a common sickness in horses. In several epidemiological studies inhospitalized horses, several serotypes of Salmonella often are predominant in nosocomial infections.Transportation, overcrowding, dehydration, oral antimicrobial therapy and infections are the risk factorswhich may activate latent or subclinical salmonellosis. In this study, t...
متن کاملGenetic Characterization of Salmonella Typhimurium Isolates from Faeces of Children with Gastroenteritis Hospitalized in Baqiatollah-Azam Hospital, Tehran, Iran
Introduction: In Iran, invasive nontyphoidal Salmonella (iNTS) disease causes severe bacteremic illness among children <5 years old. The global yearly incidence of iNTS disease in children was reported to be in the 3.4 (range 2.1-6.5) million cases, (overall incidence 49 cases (range 30-94) per 100,000 population), the iNTS case-fatality ratio (CFR) of 20% yielded 681,316 deat...
متن کاملSignal transduction pathway mediated by the novel regulator LoiA for low oxygen tension induced Salmonella Typhimurium invasion
Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) is a major intestinal pathogen of both humans and animals. Salmonella pathogenicity island 1 (SPI-1)-encoded virulence genes are required for S. Typhimurium invasion. While oxygen (O2) limitation is an important signal for SPI-1 induction under host conditions, how the signal is received and integrated to the central SPI-1 regulatory syst...
متن کاملInduction of Apoptosis in Cultured Intestinal Epithelial Cells by Adhesin of Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium
Bacterial virulence mechanisms stem from the selective pressure of host environment and Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. typhimurium) is an ideal example of this [1]. S. typhimurium causes self-limiting gastroenteritis and poses serious health problem in the regions of unhygienic conditions. Adhesin mediated attachment of enteric pathogens to host intestinal mucosa is an important ea...
